7 Questions to Sanaz Motamedi
Tell us a little about your professional background, how were you trained in Art?
Hello, welcome to my studio. I am Sanaz motamedi, Iranian artist and a lover since childhood. I am a graduate and expert in the art of painting and a painting instructor. I have done many activities in the field and my artistic journey, from exhibitions to festivals and symposiums, which has provided me with a new path and many experiences, and due to my great interest I am still active
You do drawing but also painting and collage, why did you choose these three artistic practices to make your art?
I believe that design is the basis of all arts. someone who is a good designer can certainly be a good painter. All my paintings and drawings are formed from an improvised and feminine state of mind by expressing my feelings, my positive emotions, and I was able to represent them in my portraits and self-portraits. perhaps it should be said that my style of work is more that of protest expressionism. what about collages? by taking photos of my surroundings and magazines I was able to create a room that really gave me a good space, a good idea and a good composition that I like
Name us 3 female painters who inspire you?
During my visual studies, the approach and perspective of three women in the world of contemporary art was important to me. one of them was a german designer named kathe klowitz, who mainly presented portraits of pain, suffering and poverty, of women and children. The second was Frida Kahlo, a modernist and contemporary Mexican artist who made femininity the main identity of her works. The third was a modernist and contemporary Iranian painter named Lili Matin Daftari, an Iranian living in Paris, whose works are mainly of women and mixed with flowers.
Sanaz: We know that the Arab world is changing when it comes to women, but at the same time we know that the Arab world is conservative in its culture and wants women to behave more carefully. You are an Iranian female artist. what can you tell us about this?
And from this point of view, as an Iranian artist, I must say that our women in Iran are very talented and capable because we Iranians have a strong culture and civilization dating back 2500 years, as you know. And I am sometimes saddened why this artistic platform has never been provided to us, women in Iran, in all artistic fields so that we can benefit from it. Although I have to be brief and I hope I have been as clear as possible
What does the Maison Melem France gallery represent for you and what do you expect from this 100% feminine gallery?
I am very happy to work with your team and to be able to present my art through this gallery and so that all artists from around the world can see my works through you in this country (France), which is the cradle of art, just like ancient Rome and Italy.
What is your biggest wish?
My greatest wish has always been and still is to paint and I have worked hard to achieve my goal. In my opinion, when an artist closes his file to create his works, he will lose everything he has learned and spent
And what would you do if you didn't make art?
Nothing ! my feelings and my experiences are all my well-being, what I was able to show in the photos. I must say that I am madly in love with painting and art and that I adore it like an admirer. Thanks again
